About WeWillHelp
Built by one parent · No funding · No tracking · No paywalls for emergencies
WeWillHelp is a free child-safety platform: registered sex offender map for all 50 states, AMBER alerts, missing-children records, crisis hotlines, and parent / educator / survivor resources. It works without an account. It costs nothing to use.
Why it exists
Most "find offenders near me" sites are walled gardens. They harvest your address and email, plaster the page with ads, gate the actual map behind a credit card, and resell the data to brokers. A panicked parent at 2 AM shouldn't have to navigate a paywall.
This site was built to be the opposite of that:
You should not have to pay, sign up, or hand over your data to find out whether registered offenders live near your kid's school.
How it's funded
Out of pocket. Running the site costs about $375 per month at current scale, rising to roughly $500 per month at 1,000 active users — covering the sex-offender registry API subscription (the largest single item), Vercel hosting, Supabase database, Stripe processing fees, and the email service that sends AMBER alerts.
About $375/month covers: registry data (Offenders.io subscription — the largest single item) · hosting (Vercel) · database (Supabase) · email + push (Resend) · CDN + image proxying · domain & SSL. At 1,000 active users that rises to roughly $500/month.
Premium subscriptions and donations help keep the lights on. The free tier exists permanently — Premium just adds a few generous quotas (more searches per day, AI-powered missing-persons searches, saved zones with weekly alerts).
Operating principles
Every feature gets tested against these. If a request would violate one, it doesn't ship.
- We never store your GPS coordinates. Running a search sends your position to the server — it has to, to query the registry — but nothing keeps it. What gets written to the log is a grid square roughly 0.6 miles on a side: enough to say a search happened near a town, never enough to point at your house.
- No tracking. No analytics on your searches. We don't run Google Analytics, we don't fingerprint you for ads, we don't sell anything to anyone.
- No paywalls for emergencies. 911 button, AMBER alerts, crisis hotlines (NCMEC, RAINN, Childhelp, NHTH), and the basic offender map are free forever. Premium adds convenience features, not safety features.
- Transparent data sources. Every pin on the map cites where it came from — state registries (FDLE, TBI, GBI, TX DPS, etc.) and the federal NSOPW aggregator. All 50 state profiles link directly to the official registry.
- Honest about coverage gaps. Some states make direct registry access difficult. Where we have to fall back to NSOPW or note partial coverage, we say so on the state profile.
- Open about cost + decisions. The budget transparency above is real. When something is gated by cost (e.g. AI features), we say why.
What we don't do
- We don't track real-time offender movement. Registry data is the registered address on file. Someone may not actually be at that address today.
- We don't generate AI-detected "matches" from photos. The legal + ethical risk of false positives outweighs the value.
- We don't accept third-party advertising. This site is supported by Premium subscriptions and direct contributions, not surveillance ads.
- We don't share your email, even if you save a zone. Email is used for alert delivery only.
Get involved
The most useful thing you can do is share the map with parents in your area. Word of mouth has been the entire growth strategy.
- Share wewillhelp.app with your parent group, school PTA, or co-parent.
- Run a search for your address and bookmark a result (free, no signup).
- If you find errors or coverage gaps, email [email protected].
- If you're a journalist, the press kit has logos, screenshots, key statistics, and a brief.
- If you can afford it, a Premium subscription directly keeps the free tier alive.
